Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll analyse datasets to support decision-making. You’ll build on your existing quantitative skills and further specialise.

You’ll gain skills for both academic and business careers, including:

  • extracting valuable data insights and effectively communicating them to varied audiences
  • understanding the importance of theory in data mining to inform the analysis and interpretation of results
  • using standard software tools to manage data for academic and business applications
  • analysing datasets and producing reports independently
  • creating reports, including data analysis and data visualisations
  • applying theory to practice.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
