On this module, you’ll explore conservation management in western Europe. You’ll focus on how different habitats are maintained and the challenges different species face.
You’ll learn about conservation efforts on a broader scale. This includes the roles of NGOs, governments and society in protecting biodiversity. Through lectures, seminars and guest speaker sessions, you’ll gain insights into real-world conservation work and career opportunities in the field.
You’ll also visit local nature reserves to observe conservation practices and survey techniques in action.
Module learning outcomes
- Evaluate some of the challenges and solutions in conservation management by analysing real -world case studies.
- Apply an evidence-based approach to conservation, by integrating scientific literature, ecological reports and best practice to address aspects of biodiversity loss.
- Explain the role of policy and legislation in conservation.
