We’re all familiar with struggling after a poor night’s sleep. Irritability, low mood and an inability to focus are just some of the consequences of acute sleep loss. But what happens when sleep is persistently disrupted? How does poor sleep interact with mental health over days, weeks and even years?
On this module, you’ll discover the connection between sleep and metal health, with sleep disturbances underlying the development and maintenance of most psychopathologies.
You’ll explore:
- the latest innovations for improving sleep
- sleep problems in under-researched conditions such as ADHD, depersonalisation and OCD.
Module learning outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of interactions between sleep and mental health
- Critically evaluate empirical research linking various sleep parameters to specific mental health disorders
