Module learning outcomes
Demonstrate a familiarity with the key literature and academic debates on freedom of expression and the regulation of the news/mass media
Evidence an understanding of the history of the regulation of the news/mass media, and how industry practice has shaped law and regulation (and vice versa)
Evidence an understanding of the legal frameworks that govern the news/mass media and how they reflect both economic and rights-based issues
Demonstrate an applied knowledge of media law and regulation, with the ability to analyse contemporary problems and identify potential responses to defamation and privacy.
